From The Sea

Title: From The Sea
Length: 7k
Pairing: Sehun/Kai
Rating: NC-17
Summary: This is the story of how a merman and a human fell in love with each other. They have found happiness in each other's smiles, laughs, and hardships. The end of this story is only the beginning of their forever.

Part 1:

Water lapped at his toes as he slowly sunk into the wet sand. The sun was setting and he was waiting for the person that changed his life.

Jongin had always been a lonely boy. Very shy and quiet. When he wasn't at school he was walking along the shoreline, collecting sea shells. He loved the sea and all of it's hidden treasures. His parents had bought a house near the ocean when Jongin was two years old.

When Jongin was 14 he started having problems with bullies. He would go to the water in comfort and salty liquids from his face and the waves met. The pain was all washed away when he left his worries in the sand.

At 16 he couldn't handle being alienated anymore. He went to the shore and sat in his favorite spot. He took the blade and slid it's smooth edge against his wrist. Then all he saw was black.

Just when he thought his misery was over he woke up to the sound of crashing waves. He looked at his wrists in disbelief because they looked as if they had never been cut. He looked at his hands and unfurled his fingers. In his palm was a sea shell. It wasn't normal and he knew from all of his shell studying that this one was only found in very deep water. It had a silver tint to it that made it change colors when the light hit it at different angles.

He didn't know what happened that night, but someone or something didn't want him to die.

He met the person that saved his life a year later. Once again the bullying had picked up and he had just been told that he has depression. He was going to fix his problems in the best way he knew how to. With a razor blade and the sea by his side.

It was past midnight when he snuck out of the house. He had left a note saying goodbye to his parents sitting on the kitchen table. He knew his parents would be devastated, but he couldn't continue on like this anymore.

As he touched the blade to his wrist a soft voice called out, “Wait!”

He stopped in shock. This was his little hideout. How can anyone know about it?

The voice called out again and he looked towards the water where it sounded like it was coming from. It was very dark out and the only light was coming from the moon. Jongin could make out the faint form of something moving closer to him, coming from the water's edge.

When the other came into Jongin’s view, under the moonlight he could make out the younger male's silver hair that stuck to his forehead.

Jongin dropped the blade and ran to help the boy who was laying in the water.

“Stop,” the boy in the water said and Jongin froze, “Don't come closer. You will be afraid of me.”

Jongin took another step closer and said, “You need help though!”

“No Jongin, it's you who needs help.”

His breath caught in his lungs when he heard his name come out of the lips from the beautiful stranger. The melodic tone only encouraged him to walk closer the the boy.

As his toes reached the water's edge he saw something large shimmering beneath the small waves. It moved, almost anxiously, the closer he got to it. He was about two feet away when he realized the thing moving in the water was attached to the boy. His eyes widened and he fell backwards into the water with a splash.

The boy in the water sighed, “See I told you that you would be afraid. You can run away now.”

Jongin was terrified, but he wasn't going to run away. This boy somehow saved his life.

“What's your name?” Jongin asked.

“Sehun. Why aren't you running?”

“To be honest I am slightly scared, but I have a feeling that you mean no harm to me.”

“You're right. I don't want to hurt you, I just want to be your friend.”

No one has ever asked to be my friend before Jongin thought to himself.

Jongin smiled at Sehun and said, “Okay, I'll be your friend.”

Sehun surprised expression made Jongin chuckle.

“Jongin, it's getting late. You should head home. I will meet you here tomorrow when the sun is setting.”

Jongin wanted to protest, but Sehun was right. It was getting late. Jongin got up to leave, but before he stepped away Sehun grabbed his ankle. Sehun held out his hand and put something into Jongin’s palm. He unfurled his fingers and saw the same seashell that he had seen years ago. He stared at and was going to question the other, but by the time he looked up the other boy had disappeared without a sound.

It was silent out as he walked back home. The only thing that could be heard were the soft crashes of waves against the sand.

When he entered the house he looked at the note still sitting on the table. He snatched it up quickly and crumpled it into a ball. He threw it away along with all of his worries about the upcoming day.

Part 2:

Jongin woke up with a smile on his face and the scent of the sea surrounding him. He walked to school with his shoulders held high and a newfound confidence. People stared at him in an odd way. The bullies didn't even bother him that day. He wasn't going to be weak anymore. He wouldn't let them pick on him.

And it was all because of Sehun. He hadn't known the other for long, but Jongin had finally found someone who actually cared about him.

Jongin rushed home after school and ran upstairs to finish his homework. He typically put all homework off until the last minute, but he had to do it now so that he could see Sehun. He ate his dinner with enthusiasm and his mother asked him if something good happened.

“I made a new friend.” His mother's smile was brighter than a thousand suns. She had always worried about her son always being alone. That obviously wasn't a problem anymore.

“Can I hang out with him tonight?”

“Of course, darling.” Jongin was radiating happiness. After so many years of suffering Jongin has finally found someone to make him smile.

~

The sun was just above the horizon as he dashed out of the house to his special hiding spot. He was out of breath by the time he reached his destination. He placed his hands on his knees as he bent over, trying to regulate his breathing. He knew he was early, but sat by the edge of the water and waited anyways.

Sehun showed up within minutes.

“Hello.” Jongin said.

“Hi,” Sehun said with a blinding smile, “I can sense that you are much happier today.” Jongin nodded in reply.

“We have more time today so you can ask all the questions you want.” said the boy still submerged in the water.

“Why did you want to be my friend?” Sehun was shocked by the question. He had thought for sure that the other would ask something along the lines of, ‘what are you?’.

“When I was younger I used to swim in the water around here. My father had always told me that humans were vicious and scary, but I couldn't help my curiosity. One day the water was filled with blood and there you were on the sand. You were unconscious when I found you and I healed you with a part of my essence. There is a part of me in you. That's why I have always been drawn to you since that day. I want to protect you and be your friend.”

Jongin was lost in Sehun's words. “So you did save me that day.” Jongin mumbled.

“Yes.”

“Thanks.” Sehun just nodded. There was an awkward silence until Jongin spoke again.

“So……...well…...what are you exactly?”

There's the question Sehun was waiting for.

“I'm what you would call a merman.” He then dragged himself out of the water and plopped onto the ground next to Jongin. What Jongin was expecting when Sehun told him that was something out of The Little Mermaid, but that is not what he got. Sehun's tail was mostly pink with splashes of blue and green. He had a long bendable fin that went from his lower back all the way to the tip of his tail where it split off into two propeller fins. His hands were also covered in deep purple scales.

“Why do you have scales on your hands? I've studied myths about mermaids and merman, but I've never heard of that before.”

“The type of scale and color show what clan you belong to. I belong to the EXO clan.”

Jongin slowly reached his hand out to grasp at the others hand. Sehun let him. He had expected the scales to feel slimy and gross, but they were smooth and dry. He smiled and held his new friend's hand closer. Then Jongin gained more confidence and moved closer to the tail. He gently laid a hand on it. A mischievous grin lit up Sehun's face as he flipped his tail out of the water, splashing Jongin and causing him to shriek. The younger boy let out a loud laugh while Jongin glared at him. They continued to talk for hours upon hours.

And once again he had to leave his friend in order to go home with a seashell in hand.

~

Weeks and months passed by quickly without any problems. Everyday he went out to visit with his friend and brought home a beautiful seashell each time.

This time Jongin was going to bring Sehun a present. It was a stainless steel ring and Jongin had a matching one. He handed it to Sehun and he stared at it with a blank look.

“Jongin, I understand that this is a gift, but ummm…….what do I do with it?”

Jongin giggled and showed him his hand where the matching ring was. Sehun copied Jongin and slid it onto his ring finger. The shiny metal reflected the purple scales on his finger.

“Wanna go swimming?” Sehun asked.

Jongin’s eyes lit up. He had wanted to watch Sehun swim for the longest time. Jongin watched as the other slid into the water. He was about waist deep in the water. The sea was clear and the full moon was shining brightly.

Sehun came up to him with a sharp stone in his hand and said, “This might hurt a little but it will be worth it.”

He slit his palm and blood started seeping out then he did the same to Jongin who was quite startled by the action. He then pressed the two palms together and pulled them apart. When Jongin looked at his palm it was completely healed.

Before Jongin could ask why Sehun did that, he was abruptly pulled under the water. He screamed and inhaled water. The water flooded his lungs and he thought for sure that he was going to die.

“Just breathe.”

And Jongin did. His body jerked in surprise at the fact that he was breathing…...underwater.

Jongin looked at the merman with wide eyes and the other just smiled and held out his hand. Jongin grasped it and held on tight as Sehun took off. Jongin was pulled closer to the others body as they swam together. He looked down and saw Sehun's pinkish tail swishing back and forth feverishly.

Sehun showed him all the beauties of the underwater paradise.

Jongin was exhausted by the time they returned to the shore line. The two sat in the sand side by side while Sehun asked Jongin questions about humans.

“Jongin, have you ever been in love?”

“I've never dated anyone. Why do you ask?”

“I didn't ask if you've dated anyone. I asked if you have ever been in love. I asked because I don't know what it feels like, but I think I'm falling in love……...with you.”

Jongin’s heart stopped when he heard those words slip from his best friends mouth. A strong feeling of affection towards the other and bubbled up in his heart. He turned his head in Sehun's direction and stared deeply into his eyes. They stayed in that position a few moments until Sehun started to lean forward. Jongin didn't pull away and he was rewarded with the others soft lips pressing against his.

It was a chaste kiss, lasting only a few moments, but it left them wanting more.

Jongin leaned in for a deeper kiss this time and entwined his fingers between Sehun's. In the dim moonlight you could see both of their rings shining brightly, side by side.

Sehun pulled away, breathless.

“You should probably head home, Jongin.”

Sehun could see the disappointment in the others eyes.

“I love you, Sehun.”

“I love you too, Jongin.”

That night, on the walk home, it was anything but quiet. Blood was rushing through his veins and his heart was pounding at a hastened pace. Jongin has finally experienced his first kiss and it was simply amazing. He felt truly loved for the first time. Of course his parents loved him, but they never gave him their undivided attention like Sehun did. They never made him feel special like Sehun did.

~

Every time Jongin went to visit his boyfriend, he was held in a tight embrace by Sehun. The younger boy made Jongin feel safe and happy. It was a full moon and their one year anniversary when Sehun made love to Jongin. He screamed out his lover's name to the moon above. He clung to Sehun as they melded their bodies into one.

Part 2.5: smut (can be skipped)

Jongin was a greedy person. He took everything Sehun gave him and then some. He took all of the others kisses, hugs, and love.

He also took all of the pleasure that Sehun gave him. The way he felt when Sehun was drilling into him as they were halfway in the water. The way Sehun made him scream the others name. The younger boy was very curious and always eager to please.

~

One night, Jongin had gone to their meet up spot and found Sehun lying on the sand touching himself. When he heard Jongin coming, he quickly pushed his cock beneath his scales into an opening. Jongin blushed and went to sit next to Sehun. He has seen Sehun's cock multiple times. It was much larger than the average humans and it was slightly tinted to match his tail. There was a slit in the his tail where his cock would come out of and Jongin pressed his hand right on top of it.

Sehun let out a soft whimper and thrusted into Jongin’s hand. His cock eventually popped out and Jongin grabbed it and stroked it with his soft hands.

“I was …. thinking about you…….and I got so turned on….” Sehun said between breathless gasps.

Jongin had never don't anything like this, but he wanted to please the younger boy so he leaned down and licked the head of his cock.

“W-what are you d-doing--ahhhhh!” Jongin didn't stop to answer the others question and instead took more of the cock into his mouth.

Jongin started bobbing his head and moaning and Sehun came in his mouth. His cum tasted of fruit and salt mixed together.

Jongin hadn't realized it, but by the time he finished blowing Sehun he was already hanging hard between his legs.

“I want to try that too.” Sehun whispered. Jongin looked at him with hesitancy, but chose to connect their lips together. He licked into the others mouth and bit his lip as he pulled away. Sehun slowly, almost teasingly, pulled Jongin’s shorts off. He gripped Jongin's cock around the base and leaned down to lick the tip. Jongin let out a breath of anticipation when he felt the warm muscle on his member.

He was quickly engulfed by the hot mouth and he let out consistent moans as Sehun sucked harder and harder. The younger tried to take more in, but his gag reflexes went off and he now had tears in his eyes. Seeing Sehun like that, Jongin couldn't help but come into the hot cavern of his merman’s mouth. Jongin saw him swallow every drop and it caused his cock to twitch in interest.

After catching their breath Sehun whispered, “It's almost morning. I don't want you to get sick from not getting enough rest.”

“But I don't wanna go. I want to spend more time with you!” Jongin whined like the true five year old he is.

Sehun knew what was best for him so he started to pull himself towards the water. Once Jongin realized that Sehun was making a run, well slide, for it, he ran after the other boy. He grabbed Sehun around the waist and tail and lifted him out of the water as the younger boy squirmed in his hold.

“Hun, just this once will you stay with me?”

He hesitated, but chose to let Jongin have his way, “Fine, just this once. And I mean it, Jongin. I don't want you getting sick.”

The elder sat the merman down on the sand and leaned in to kiss him passionately. Sehun pulled away to catch his breath after a while, but his hyung wasn't done yet.

Jongin was greedy and he wanted more. He connected their lips for the third time that night, but with more lust. He swirled their tongues together and sucked on Sehun's. After abusing is pale, pink lips, Jongin moved on to leaving love marks on the others neck and chest.

This was an odd experience for Sehun because he had always been the one in charge, but he decided for once that he would let his hyung be in control for now.

“Sehunnie, I want to be the one to make love to you tonight.”

There was an awkward silence and then Sehun rolled onto his side in reply. Reaching his hand over, he placed one finger on and opening on the back of his tail that Jongin had never noticed.

“It's the same as yours. I've never touched myself there though. I had always thought that I would always be the dominant one.” Sehun said nervously.

“Hunnie, if you aren't comfortable doing this then we don't have to….”

“Jongin.....please.” That one word was all it took to get Jongin moving. He quickly pulled himself up and ran to a pile of rocks where he had hidden a bottle of lube for times like this. By the time he had returned, Sehun had his hand around his cock and he was softly grunting Jongin’s name.

Jongin snuck in behind the younger and grabbed the others hand and replaced it with his. He stopped once the other was heavily leaking. He popped the cap of the lube open and spread it on three of his fingers. He pressed it against Sehun’s opening. The first one went in rather easy along with the second. Sehun was very good at adapting to the size of Jongin's fingers. He had three fingers moving in and out and he moved his fingers at different angles until he hit something that made Sehun moan.

“Are you ready?”

Sehun nodded, not trusting his voice at the moment. Jongin rubbed the tip of his cock against the opening and he was greedily sucked in. “Ahn! Sehun, you feel so good!”

He had to stop himself from coming too fast. Once he was able to control his release, he started to thrust into the younger boy.

Sehun's fingers dug into the sand as Jongin’s cock slid in and out of him. “Nnnnnnnn!......Jongin~.......faster!.......ahhhh!”

Sehun had never been this vocal, but now that he was, it turned Jongin on and made him cum faster. Both of the moaned when their releases hit them.

Jongin pulled out and Sehun's slit closed up, almost as if he was trying to keep the cum inside him. Sehun rolled over and pressing a light kiss to Jongin’s lips.

He laid his head on Jongin’s chest and said, “I love you.”

“I love you too, Hun.”

After a few moments of silence Sehun said, “I'm going to drown now because I can't swim and it's all your fault!” Sehun pouted.

Jongin chuckled and said, “Sehun, you can't drown.”

“Humpf! Stupid hyung.” Sehun muttered.

Jongin retaliated by tickling the other.

“STOP!” Sehun said while laughing hysterically.

Jongin did eventually and he fell asleep with Sehun curled up in his embrace. Jongin was greedy and he was never going to let Sehun go.

Part 3:

After Jongin graduated, he decided to go to the local community college so that he could stay near Sehun.

At the age of twenty-one, a sophomore in college, Jongin's parents were reported to be in a fatal car accident.

He didn't let himself cry until he saw the merman that stole his heart. He poured his heart and tears out while being held by Sehun.

~

Jongin was at the joint funeral when a thought struck him. He was alone. There was no one left for him. No one would be there to watch over him or cook him meals. He was alone.

After his parents were buried, people came up to him to wish him their sympathies. They were family members, classmates, acquaintances, and they were all people that didn't care about him.

He felt like he was suffocating in the presence of all these strangers. He just needed to get out. He needed to breathe.

The second the last person was out the door, he was on his way to the one person that's always been there for him.

The sun hadn't even set yet, but he was still running towards the shore. He didn't stop when he reached the water, he just kept running. The water reached the point where his knees were hidden by his suit. He didn't bother to take his clothes off as he sunk down into the water, letting it caress him as he sobbed. Moments passed of his heart wrenching sobs before he felt a hand on his shoulder and he was pulled into someone's warm embrace. He knew exactly who this person was; the only one who cared about him.

The slow rocking motion of the merman caused Jongin to calm down. When Jongin finally looked up at him, Sehun pressed a soft kiss to his forehead and whispered, “Everything is going to be fine, Jongin. I promise.”

That night, Jongin fell asleep in his lovers reassuring embrace. Sehun moved them over so that his back was resting against a moss covered rock and his tail was in the water.

Jongin woke up with the gentle glow of the sun in his eyes and warm arms wrapped around him. He smiled and turned to press a kiss against Sehun’s lips.

“Thanks for always being there for me.”

“I will always be here for you, Jongin”

“I know.”

Jongin still had to face the upcoming day and he knew that he couldn't hide away with Sehun the whole time so he got up to leave. He truly didn't want to go, but he had many things to figure out.

Begrudgingly, he made his way back home. He unlocked what was now his house. He didn't stop to stare at the flowers on the table nor did he stop to look at the last note his mom left him hanging on the fridge. He headed straight to the bathroom. When he entered he was greeted by his disheveled appearance. His suit was crusted over with dried sand and his skin was a pasty white color unlike his normal deep tan. His eyes were puffy as they traveled over his form. What caught his attention was a necklace. It was simple, but it meant so much to him. It was the seashell that Sehun had given him the first time he saved him strung onto a piece of wire. It was Sehun's way of saying that he was here for Jongin.

He ran his thumb over the smooth surface of the shell and felt instantly better. After taking a shower he got dressed in order to meet with his lawyer.

Do Kyungsoo was a good lawyer. He was quiet and finished his work with extensive perfection. All of his father's assets were now in his hands after his meeting with Kyungsoo.

Jongin was now in charge of his father's company. It was a modest company, but being the CEO still took a lot out of Jongin by the end of the day.

He still made time in his busy schedule to visit Sehun everyday. He looked forward to weekends the most, when he could spend the entire day with Sehun. Each time Sehun asked him how he was doing and would reply with ‘good’ or ‘fine’, but Sehun knew that was far from the truth. He could tell Jongin was slowly dying. He had lost his motivation to be happy. His conversations weren't filled with spirit and his actions lacked conviction. The Jongin he knew was no more but a shell of a man. He was a fish out of water, waiting to shrivel up and die. It hurt Sehun to see the one he loved most in so much pain.

This kind of behavior had been going on for almost two years and Sehun had to put a stop to it. Each time he saw Jongin, he had lost weight and had darker circles under his eyes than he did the last time.

~

“Jongin, this has to stop.” The younger had been sitting three feet away from Jongin. He had set new boundaries with Sehun after hearing all the comments of him being too skinny when they made love. They haven't been intimate for over five months.

“I don't know what you are talking about, Sehun”

“Yes, you do!” Sehun said in a pleading voice. “Jongin, I don't think you understand how much it hurts me to see you like this! I love you so much it's physically painful for me to not be around you. I never told you, but your emotions are transferred to me because I selected you as my soulmate. We only ever love one person in our lives and how do you think it makes me feel knowing that you could die at any moment? It fucking hurts, Jongin. You wouldn't know the pain because only merpeople can feel emotions! I need you, Jongin. You can't just leave me.”

Jongin was dumbfounded to hear Sehun snap at him. He had always been the calmer of the two. Jongin sat in silence and thought about what Sehun had said and he was right. He was hurting Sehun.

“Sehun…….I'm so sorry.”

Part 4: final

Sehun pulled Jongin into a tight embrace. It went unspoken, but Jongin knew he had been forgiven.

“Jongin, I want to talk to you about something, but I need to know that you are in the right state of mind.”

Jongin took a deep breath and stared into the younger male's eyes, “Sehun, I'm okay now. You can tell me.”

“I want to take you with me.”

“What do you mean?”

“I want to turn you into a merman……”

It took the elder a while to process what he had just heard. Was it even possible for him to magically sprout a tail? He thought of all the responsibilities he would leave behind and he knew that he could hand everything over to his Vice President. He had nothing left on land, but in the sea he had a future with the love of his life. He knew what his choice was.

“Sehun, I'm not sure what becoming a merman entitles, but I want to become one so that I can be with you.”

Sehun let out a sigh of relief. He was nervous as to what Jongin would say, but in his heart he knew that the elder would come with him.

“When will you turn me?” Jongin asked shyly.

“I figured that I would give you time to get everything sorted out.”

“In three days then!” Jongin shouted gleefully with little thought put into his answer. He told Sehun that he was going to work on getting paperwork sorted out that night. Jongin worked through the night and sent an email to Kyungsoo asking if they could meet soon. Jongin went to work the next day and announced that he was going into an early retirement. He then pulled his Vice President, Yifan, aside and told him that he was now in charge of the company. He took the information well Jongin thought. Minus the part when he dumped his coffee on his pants when he heard the news.

Jongin felt like the world had been lifted off of his shoulders when he signed the company over to Yifan. He left the building for the last time in his life that day and headed to the cafe down the street where he was to meet with Kyungsoo.

~

Kyungsoo was an accepting man and Jongin knew that. He also knew he could trust Kyungsoo with his secret. The lawyer took in the news with a relaxed look on his face. Kyungsoo was going to sell all of Jongin's belongings and put the money into a specialized bank account that would allow the money to be donated to a specific foundation if the account hadn't been opened in 100 years. Jongin also had his parents wedding rings put in a safe.

Jongin was proud of himself for accomplishing what he had told Sehun he would do in one day instead of three. He hadn't expected Kyungsoo's schedule to be that clear. He honestly didn't have anything left to do. He didn't have to say goodbye to anyone because no one would even notice his absence.

It was weird going to bed that night without seeing Sehun. He tossed and turned all night long. The lack of Sehun's presence kept him wide awake all night long. All he could think of was being wrapped in Sehun's arms.

He woke up the next morning and looked at the picture of his parents on his bedside table. He stuck the frame into a waterproof bag along with the shells that Sehun had given him over the years. Those were the only things he considered to be valuable. He had many doubts running through his mind the rest of the day, but he wouldn't be changing his mind now. Jongin was stubborn. After he had made decision trying to make him change his mind was like trying to change the direction in which a river flowed.

The sun was setting as Jongin looked out his kitchen window for the last time. He walked out of the house with just swimming shorts on and his bag in hand. The necklace Sehun had given him was also around his neck.

He sat with his toes in the sand as he waited for Sehun to show up. He had told Sehun that he wouldn't come to see him for three days, but somehow he knew that Sehun would come. This all felt like a dream to the boy who had always been lonely. He never would've thought that he would find someone special for himself.

After a half an hour of waiting, the surface of the water began to ripple and Sehun's head popped out of the middle of the little waves. Jongin smiled and moved forward into the water so that he was at his lover's side.

“I'm ready.” Jongin whispered.

Sehun held up his hand and in it was a pearl. He then closed his fingers around it and turned to face Jongin.

“My father is the leader of the EXO clan. He found out that I was talking to a human and got very upset at me.”

“Sehun, I'm-” Jongin interrupted, but was immediately silenced.

“I told him that I loved you. He was still furious because he didn't want the secret of the merpeople to get out. He came up with the idea of turning you. I didn't know that humans could become merpeople before my father told me. It's a rare occurrence for a human to be turned and only the leaders of clans know about the process. My father decided that the best way for our secret to stay a secret was to turn you and he also knew that you were my soulmate.”

Sehun looked Jongin in the eyes and asked, “Are you sure you're ready to do this?”

“I've been ready since the day I met you.”

Sehun then pressed the pearl into Jongin’s palm just like he had done with the seashells. The elder looked at the object in confusion.

“Swallow it.”

If anyone else had told him to do that he would've thought that they were on drugs, but he trusted Sehun. He put his fingers to his mouth and slipped the pearl through his lips. He swallowed and it went down hard. An instant warm feeling traveled through his body and that was followed by excruciating pain that made him scream out in agony. Sehun pulled him close and held him tight until he backed out from the pain.

Jongin was awoken by gently swaying movements. He opened his eyes and was met with a blurred sight of Sehun laying next to him. After his vision cleared was when he remembered what had happened the night before.

Jongin moved abruptly and was greeted with the sight of his tail. It was mostly blue with splashes of yellow and green. His hands also had the purple scales that matched Sehun's.

As he was admiring his new appendage, the other boy started to stir in his sleep. Groaning, he lifted his hands to his face and rubbed the sleep out of them.

Sehun remembered that he had fallen asleep with Jongin in his arms before the transformation was completed. When he opened his eyes he noticed something blue swishing around in the water and the laughter of his lover greeted his ears as a wake up call.

They had been in a shallow underwater cave. When Sehun came out, Jongin swam straight for him and didn't stop. He crashed into Sehun and stole a kiss from the younger boy.

Sehun finally got to see the others smile that he had missed so much. He was happy, Jongin was happy, and the future ahead of them was bright.

The two of them swam together for hours. At night they went back to the same cave they had been in the night before.

“I'm so glad that you saved my life.”

“Me too because I don't know what I would've done without you.” the younger boy whispered.

“You probably would've drowned.” Sehun snorted and although it was dark, Jongin still knew that the younger boy had rolled his eyes.

“Hey, I love you. You know that right?”

“Of course I know that, Sehun.”

“Do you love me?”

“That's a stupid question. I've loved you since the day I met you.”

Jongin could feel that Sehun was smiling when he pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. He tangled their hands together and the moonlit water reflected against the matching set of rings that symbolized a promise of love that would never be broken.
